Description
Rice paddle with matching storage box in Winnie the Pooh design from the Hug and Heart series. The shamoji, as the rice paddle is called in Japan, is a staple in every kitchen there and sits next to the rice cooker. The surface is finely textured, which prevents cooked rice from sticking to it as much as it would to a smooth spoon. The spoon measures approximately 70 x 190 millimeters. In Switzerland, it is just as practical for risotto, couscous, or mashed potatoes.
The included box is what really sets it apart from a simple spoon: it catches drips and keeps the countertop clean when the spoon is set down between servings. It measures about 110 x 123 x 55 millimeters and stands stably. The spoon is made of polypropylene and is heat-resistant up to around 140 degrees, while the box is made of AS plastic with a limit of about 80 degrees.
This difference dictates the care required: the spoon can easily handle hot water, but the box should be cleaned by hand with lukewarm water only, otherwise it may warp. Neither part is suitable for the microwave. Replenishment is never guaranteed with these imports. Limited Japan import, shipped from Switzerland. After rinsing, let both parts dry completely before placing the spoon back into the box so that no residual moisture collects inside.
