Description
Bamboo chopsticks with a Cinderella motif, 21 centimeters long. This length is the standard size in Japan for teenagers and adults, not the child size: for smaller children, the typical lengths are 16 to 18 centimeters. If you are looking for chopsticks for a child just starting out, it is better to choose a shorter version or training chopsticks with an attachment.
Bamboo is the traditional material for chopsticks, lighter than plastic and warmer in the hand than metal. The tips are ridged, which makes rice, noodles, and slippery pieces like tofu much less likely to slip off than with lacquered chopsticks with smooth tips. The surface is sealed with urethane, which protects the bamboo from moisture and makes the print durable. If you are not using the chopsticks for a long time, store them in a dry place and not in a closed container.
This very sealing determines how to care for them: the chopsticks do not belong in the dishwasher nor in boiling water, as both will eventually dissolve the coating. Wash briefly by hand, dry off, and store lying down. A safety note: chopsticks taper to a point at the front and are not toys. Children should only use them at the table and under supervision, not walk around with them, and not play with them. Restocking is never guaranteed with these imports. Limited Japan import, shipped from Switzerland. Bamboo reacts slightly to humidity, so subtle color differences between two pairs are normal.
